About The Event

Meditation Classes with Stan Giles 

Stan is a foster parent with a background in health - as a nurse for 25 years, and in complementary therapies, yoga and meditation for the last 25 years.  In these sessions Stan will share some of the techniques that have helped him deal with life’s highs and lows.

Week 1 - 24/06/2021 

WHAT IS MEDITATION?

What is meditation? What are the benefits? Would you like to feel more calm and relaxed, and also feel more energised? In this class you will discover how you can still the body, so that you can then still the mind and the emotions.

Find out the best way to sit - And it’s not the Lotus Position! Most of us would do ourselves a serious injury trying the Lotus Position.

Enjoy the peace of a short, guided meditation (about 5 minutes).

Week 2 - 01/07/2021

ENERGISATION AND RELAXATION

Learn a 3-minute quick Energy Boost. Hear about an easy relaxation process you can access anywhere in minutes. Enjoy a guided relaxation process, followed by a calming guided meditation (about 5 minutes).

Week 3 - 08/07/2021

BREATHING

See how breathing affects your mind and body. Discover how expanding your lungs can calm your body and mind. Practise Abdominal/diaphragmatic breathing for stress reduction and relaxation. Enjoy a deeper guided meditation (5-10 minutes).

Week 4 - 15/07/2021

USING A MANTRA FOR DEEPER RELAXATION

Learn a mantra which yoga masters have used for centuries. See how repeating the mantra helps you enter a deeper state of relaxation. Practise the mantra in your everday life to access this deeper relaxation. Enjoy a deeper guided meditation (5-10 minutes).

Week 5 - 22/07/2021

ABSORPTION AND DEEPER MEDITATION

We’ll use the techniques learned in the first 4 sessions and then we’ll leave techniques behind. We’ll move on to the state of absorption in Peace, Love, Joy etc. Enjoy being guided through the techniques to the state of true, deeper meditation (10-15 minutes).
