We aim to give parents the confidence to deal with difficult situations and a clear understanding of the core legal principles including the role of disengagement and containment strategies in response to a child who is being violent.

About The Event
You MUST have completed Day 1 training to be able to attend and complete Day 2 training.
Day 1 - 17th September 10am - 4pm
Day 2 - 18th September 10am - 4pm
We offer parents whose children can be violent, which may result in harm to themselves or others, a law and guidance-based framework, with specific strategies to manage all situations safely, therapeutically, and effectively.
Learning Outcomes:
Day 1
Ø To understand why children might be violent
Ø To be able to avoid causing or unnecessarily escalating conflict
Ø To understand the benefits of empathic listening
Ø To recognise what our children’s behaviour is communicating to us
Ø To effectively de-escalate conflict therapeutically
Ø To recognise triggers for our children and us and how to reduce our vulnerability to them
Ø To be able to persuade others to co-operate using distraction and persuasion techniques
Day 2
(Day 1 must be completed in order to attend/complete Day 2)
Ø To recognise when a situation is becoming dangerous and how to respond to violence
Ø To stay safe in crisis situations
Ø To have the ability to confidently deal with verbal abuse
Ø To have the ability to manage difficult conversations
Ø To know what to do when words alone fail
Ø To end an interaction in a better place than where it started
Ø To remain respectful and professional no matter where an interaction ends up

2. Cancellations and refund terms – Tickets are non-refundable however can be transferred to another person, please contact us for more information.
3. If for any reason we need to postpone the event any tickets already purchased will be transferred to the rearranged date.
4. If for any reason NATP cancels the course a full refund will be issued. NATP accepts no responsibility for any travel arrangements or costs due to cancellation.
